Bachelor´s Thesis

  1. Bachelor theses are assigned on topics of human resources management as well as business management.
  2. Bachelor theses are usually assigned on two start dates: February 1 for the summer term and August 1 for the winter term of each year. The application deadline for the summer term start is January 15, and July 15 for the winter term. Only application on time makes it possible to comply with the procedure stipulated in the examination regulations (preliminary discussion, 23 weeks processing time, six weeks review period) still in the desired summer term or winter term and to complete the examination performance.
  3. Requirements for the preparation of a Bachelor thesis:
3.1 the conditions specified in the examination regulations
3.2 if possible, successful participation in the module "Corporate Management".
  4. In order to obtain a Bachelor thesis topic, a short written application must be submitted to the chair by the end of the application period (January 15 or July 15). You will prepare this application on the attached application form, which you should sign and submit in person during office hours, by mail, or as an email attachment. Suggestions for eligible topics and further information can be found below. The application is binding. You will be informed promptly about the acceptance or rejection of your application by the team of the chair.

  5. In principle, all applications will be considered. If capacity bottlenecks occur due to very high demand, students are asked to seek alternatives. The current supervision capacity for Bachelor theses at the Chair of Human Resource Management is ten students per semester.
  6. The topic as well as the start of the official processing period is determined in consultation with the supervisor prior to the formal application to the examination office. Suggested topics from the candidates are usually included.
  7. Withdrawals: Withdrawal from the application for a Bachelor thesis is possible up to 4 weeks after the above-mentioned start date or desired date.

After confirming that you can create the bachelor thesis follows:

  1. Preparation: Please contact your supervisor by email or phone according to your personal time requirements in order to arrange a meeting. In this meeting you will discuss your topic proposal and concretize the further procedure. It is advisable to develop a few alternative proposals for your topic, because some topics are covered several times at the professorship and offer little scope for further comprehensive treatment. After the topic has been narrowed down, you submit the signed Formblatt I, on which Professor Föhr confirms that you will be supervised at the professorship during the preparation of your Bachelor thesis. You can obtain this from the web pages of the Studienbüro. Further consultations will also be done by your supervisor - either a research assistant or Professor Föhr.
  2. Registration: In consultation with the respective supervisor, you will develop your thesis topic up to the objective as well as a first rough outline and the processing time start for your thesis. Once you have agreed on this together, sign and submit Formblatt "Antrag auf Ausgabe eines Themas für die Bachelorarbeit", on which Professor Föhr confirms that you will be supervised at the professorship during the preparation of your  thesis. You can obtain this from the website of the Studienbüro. The professor will forward your completed Formblatt to the Studienbüro. If you want to complete your studies at the end of the respective semester, it is mandatory to register by March 1 (summer term) or September 1 (winter term) at the latest.
  3. Writing the Bachelor thesis: According to the examination regulations, you have 23 weeks to write your Bachelor thesis. The official processing time starts from the date reported by the professorship. The updated (binding) instructions for the design of scientific theses can be found elsewhere on this content page. If you have any further questions, your supervisor will be happy to answer them during office hours or at pre-arranged appointments by phone or, if necessary, in person. Submit your Bachelor's thesis, including the declaration on your honor, to the study office by the deadline at the latest - in electronic form (cf. examination regulations).
  4. Completion of the procedure: The Bachelor thesis will be evaluated by your supervisor and by Professor Föhr, usually within 6 weeks, and the report will be forwarded to the Studienbüro. Your grade can then be found on AlmaWeb.
