In an interview with Rainer Alt, Rahul C. Basole provided insights into the consulting practice in the artificial intelligence (AI) environment. Dr. Basole is Managing Director at the global consulting firm Accenture and as Global Lead responsible for Visualization and Interaction Science (VIS). Before assuming this position he was an associate professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology and has authored multiple influential publications on digital platforms and ecosystem visualization.
In this interview, he discusses the key topics of his consulting practice and reports on the changes observed over the past three years towards increased automation and the use of AI. Among others, he explains the main technical approaches and the role of organizational transformation. Using a three-layer architecture diagram, he explains the interplay of platform and AI approaches, with the "single views of X", the "autotuning" of models, the trading of algorithms and the visualization of contexts among the important topics. He sees an important future field for research and practice in handling the complexity that increases with networking.
