On January 12 and 13, 2023, the fifth Blockchain Hackathon jointly organized by IBM and the Chair of Application Systems at Leipzig University took place. During these two days, eight student teams from the master's programs in business administration, computer science, and business informatics developed case studies in the smart-city environment based on an Ethereum infrastructure. The students received professional support from representatives from the administrations of the cities of Halle/Saale and Leipzig, as well as technical guidance from four representatives of IBM regarding the cloud infrastructures and development tools used. Many thanks are also due to Lecos GmbH, who provided the premises for the hackathon. The Blockchain Hackathon is part of the course "Decentralized Application Systems and Platforms" at the Chair of Application Systems and is conducted by Professors Rainer Alt and Erik Wende.
