Since 01 January 2023, Dr. Benjamin Friedländer holds the newly established junior professorship for Public Management at the Faculty of Economic Sciences. Benjamin Friedländer received his PhD in 2018 from Helmut Schmidt University in Hamburg, where he researched and taught from 2017 to 2022 as a research assistant, postdoctoral fellow, and chair deputy at the Chair of Public Administration, in particular Control of Public Organization. His dissertation "Kommunale Gesamtsteuerung öffentlicher Aufgaben. Bestandsaufnahme, Bewertung und Perspektiven" was awarded the municipal science prize of the Carl and Anneliese Goerdeler Foundation in 2020.

His research interests include public sector reform, governance and coordination of public and civil society organizations, public economics, and infrastructure research.

The junior professorship is assigned to the Institute of Public Finance and Public Management and will be transferred to a lifetime professorship after successful evaluation.
