The congress for more (in)equality in healthcare - whether in research, medical care or organizational structures.

On February 28 and March 01, 2023 at BASISLAGER Coworking in Leipzig and virtually via livestream.

Gender, age, sexual orientation, ethnic origin and nationality, religion and belief, disability and social origin - these seven core dimensions can be used to describe the diversity of our society. But (also) in the health care sector, the various interlocking dimensions of diversity are by far not sufficiently taken into account.

From February 28 to March 1, 2023, at the second DIVERSITY IN HEALTH CONGRESS 2023, we want to devote ourselves once again with an open mind to the questions of where diverse patient:ing groups should receive more equal treatment in healthcare and where, in turn, it would make sense to replace standardized care paths with diverse, more individualized approaches. For this purpose, we welcome more than 20 speakers from science and research, teaching and practice on two virtual congress days within the framework of a naturally diverse agenda - following up on a successful first edition of the DIVERSITY IN HEALTH CONGRESS in 2022, which gave a successful start to the discussion of this topic area with its focus on gender justice. This year's lectures and discussion panels will go one step further and attempt to illuminate the entire spectrum of diversity in healthcare from several angles. Topics will include disadvantages in medical treatment and barriers to access to care due to stigmatization and stereotyping. In this context, experts will speak about gender medicine and the care situation of refugees and elderly people in need of care. A look at health services research will show the importance of representative mapping of diversity in the form of health data. Only the measurability of diversity enables, for example, the development of effective, barrier-free care structures and of care innovations for diverse user groups. Five healthcare innovations will be presented by young startups in a pitch session on the second day of the congress. Another focus will be on diversity in healthcare organizational structures. Here, diversity management and the training of corresponding competencies will play an important role as an important tool for an inclusive corporate culture at all levels of diversity.

As organizers of the 2nd DIVERSITY IN HEALTH CONGRESS, the Junior Professorship Health Economics and Management of the University of Leipzig, INNO3, the SBK Siemens-Betriebskrankenkasse and the WIG2 Institute are looking forward to a colorful program as well as exciting discussion rounds with the guests on site in Leipzig and via live chat.
