It is now possible to register for the Advanced Training Module “Climate Attribution” via email. The course will take place from 3rd - 5th September 2025 at the Leipzig Institute of Meteorology and is organized by Prof. Dr. Johannes Quaas and Jun.-Prof. Dr. Sebastian Sippel as part of the qualification program of the DFG Research Training Group ECO-N.

Climate attribution is a rapidly developing field at the intersection of climate science, with many intersections with climate impacts, economics, and policy. The Advanced Training Module is offered as part of the ECO-N and LGS-CAR qualification programme for PhD researchers and early-career scientists.

Participants will gain understanding of how climate change influences extreme weather events, the methods used to attribute such events to anthropogenic climate change, and the socio-economic dimensions of climate-related damages. The training also covers theoretical and applied aspects of attribution, with emphasis on discussion, critical thinking, and hands-on practice.
