The Institute of Business and Economics Education at the University of Leipzig (Prof. Roland Happ) organised an innovative online seminar on the topic of "AI in vocational education" in cooperation with the University of Graz (Prof. Michaela Stock). The seminar was a project within the framework of the Arqus-Allianz, which promotes cooperation between European universities. Ten students from the University of Graz and 15 students from Leipzig University took part in the seminar.

The aim of the seminar was to sensibilise the students for the challenges and opportunities of artificial intelligence (AI) in vocational education and training and to provide them with skills for designing further training scenarios for teachers. The team of lecturers, consisting of Stefan Rodegast and Dr Jacqueline Schmidt from Leipzig University, instructed the students to acquire skills for the development of learning modules in small groups in a collaborative and practice-oriented manner. The learning modules were to be suitable for both the company and school context and demonstrate the potential and limitations of AI for vocational training using a specific example.

The students presented their learning modules at the end of the seminar, demonstrating their high relevance for the vocational training sector.

The online seminar can be considered a success and an example of successful international cooperation between the two universities. The students benefited from the interdisciplinary and intercultural exchange and acquired valuable skills for their future work as professional educators.
