Leipzig University and the SEPT Competence Center launched the second edition of Export Management Advanced Training (EMAT) program in October 2021. Due to the current situation, the training was conducted in a hybrid format.

The EMAT project is a combination of acquiring theoretical knowledge about export management and implementing it into practical projects with partner companies from Saxony. A very important aspect is the experience and knowledge that our international participants bring from their respective home countries and share with the local partner companies.

Every company that participated in the EMAT 2021 project came from a different industry and provided a unique case study for the participants. First of our stories is the case of Spinifex Cluster. This innovative company is based in Leipzig and develops and manufactures creative game made of wooden blocks for children and adults. The company aims to enter the Swedish and Korean markets. Thanks to EMAT, Spinifex Cluster gained valuable and targeted information about the Swedish and Korean customer along with a market analysis. The reports generated during the training show the best entrance modes according to factors such as population, culture and income, and the advantages and disadvantages of these markets. On the other hand, the training enables the participants to gain a direct insight into the challenges of a young, creative company.

Another good example of a fruitful cooperation between participants is the case of INTEC GmbH from Leipzig, who is interested in expansion in Vietnam. This specialized company develops and produces control boards for elevators and send it to customers around the world. The Vietnamese market is growing rapidly, offering new opportunities for INTEC. In this case the group conducted needs-oriented market research, defined potential market segments to approach, suggested cooperation partners, as well as proposing possible entry modes for the Saxon company. INTEC is going to Vietnam this year to meet with potential business partners and hopes for further cooperation with the working group on site in Asia.

In total, during this edition of the training, 5 working groups developed market research reports for 5 exporting companies from consumer electronics, sport, toy, machinery building and synthetic material industries in Saxony.

The next edition of the Export Management Advanced Training is going to be launched in Autumn 2022.
