Within the project, modular greenhub systems were designed and installed as models for three different locations within the University of Leipzig and their effects and scalability were investigated.

These systems were technically and biologically planned and supervised by the greenhub working group. This approach aimed to establish greenhub prototypes at the sites that could be operated with little effort by the people working there.

The goal was to create added value for employees in public institutions by always having fresh, local vegetables and herbs available through the integrated vertical farming systems. User behavior surveys were conducted after each plant growth cycle. These surveys have provided important insights into the feasibility of such system use in working groups. In addition to the university working groups, the system and its development potential were also presented to actors from the real estate industry and horticulture in order to evaluate further possible areas of application.
