This virtual onboarding week included various workshops and seminars that aimed at integrating the new intake into our IDEAS Community. We started networking in a Meet’n’Greet with alumni from the previous years who presented the development of their projects after their summer school experience. Very encouraging stories! Examples ranged from farming organic avocados in Namibia to the creation of an NGO in the sector of waste management in Cameroon.
Also, having time for informal exchange and fun during game nights and other activities is part of the IDEA Summer School! Despite more than 43,000 km of distance that we would have had to walk and swim from Leipzig in order to visit all participants, we had a chance to cook some delicious German pancakes with apple sauce together.
Looking at the outcome of this first week, we are sure that our high hopes in the upcoming summer school activities are not exaggerated. And the good news is: We will meet in Leipzig in September!
