Exchange and networking: Students, teachers, and lecturers came together to discuss teacher training and practical experience.

On April 28, 2025, the Institute of Business and Economics Education hosted a special evening dedicated to the exchange and networking across the three phases of teacher training – from university studies to preparatory service and into professional practice.

Ten students from the first two cohorts of our Master’s program in Business and Economics Education met with committed teaching professionals – including a senior trainer from the teacher training center in Dresden – as well as three faculty members from the Institute. A particular highlight of the evening was a live phone-in by one of our alumnae, currently in her preparatory service, who shared honest and insightful impressions from her first few months in the classroom.

In a relaxed setting with refreshments and snacks, participants engaged in personal conversations, exchanged experiences, and received valuable advice – on topics such as the structure of the preparatory service, everyday challenges in teaching, and tips for entering the profession. Students also had the opportunity to learn about the work of the Saxon Vocational School Teachers’ Association (LVBS) and how to become a member as a student.

Although the number of participants was slightly smaller than expected, the discussions were intensive, inspiring, and greatly appreciated by all involved.

Our sincere thanks go to all contributors, especially:

  • Birgit Bourdoux, teacher at BSZ Schkeuditz, LVBS
  • Petra Oppel, teacher at BSZ 1 Leipzig, senior trainer for vocational education
  • Nadja Wagner, senior trainer at BSZ 1 Leipzig
  • Johanna Weigel, trainee teacher at BSZ 1 Chemnitz

A follow-up event is already being planned for next year.
