The teaching project focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) and aims to sensitise prospective teachers in the vocational education sector to the topic during their studies. For this purpose, learning opportunities from the AI Campus are used to highlight challenges in vocational education and training, but also opportunities for shaping it.

Project description

In the project "AI in business education training for vocational school teachers", learning opportunities from the AI Campus are implemented in the Master's degree programme in business education and management training. Against the background of the students' future professional practice, they should develop an awareness of the challenges and opportunities of AI applications in the education sector as prospective teachers in vocational education and critically reflect on their use. Special emphasis is placed on the specifics of vocational education and training. Vocational education and training has numerous interfaces with information technology and therefore differs from the general education sector. These include, for example, the training occupations of management assistant for e-commerce, management assistant for IT system management, IT management assistant for digitalisation management, IT specialist for system integration, data and process analysis and IT specialist for digital networking.

In our Master's programme:
As part of the project, the Master's module will focus on the challenges facing the vocational education system in this context and the design options that can be used to actively address them.
With this project, the institute of business education and management training is further expanding the research branch on the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) applications into teaching and research in business education.

Funding:
The AI Campus is a project funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and developed by the Stifterverband, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFAI), the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), NEOCOSMO and the mmb Institute. The AI Campus has been available as a beta version since mid-2020. It is a learning platform with open, licensed online educational programmes.

Duration:
The project is linked to the KI Campus Fellowship Programme and runs from 1 December 2020 to 30 September 2021. A total of 19 Fellows, including the institute for business education and management training, were selected from all over Germany.

Further information can be found in the press release of the KI-Campus.
