The research and teaching activities of the Chair of Energy Management and Sustainability focus on the integrative analysis of the economic, ecological and social aspects associated with the provision of energy services at company, municipal, national or global level. Therefore, in addition to the analysis of liberalized energy markets, the research focus of the professorship includes in particular the integrated modelling of complex energy systems under climate protection or resource restrictions.

Our teaching offer

Our chair expands the range of courses offered by the Faculty of Economic Sciences with lectures on the energy fundamentals of energy supply, operational energy management, economic energy economics, integrated modelling of global climate protection strategies and the lecture series Kraftakt Energiewende (Feat of Energy Transition).

Our research

The focal points of our research activities include in particular the techno-economic optimization of decentralized energy systems, the actor-oriented modelling of municipal energy systems, the analysis of liberalized energy markets under climate protection and resource restrictions and the integrated assessment of global climate protection activities.

Our facility is located on Augustusplatz, between the main railway station and Wilhelm Leuschner Platz, directly in the centre of Leipzig. You can reach us easily by public transport, by bike, on foot or by car.
