The gap between felt and measured inflation rates

Düsseldorf Life is getting more and more expensive, at least that’s how many citizens perceive it. However, the official price statistics do not reflect this: in the period from 2004 to 2020, according to surveys by the European Commission, the perceived inflation rate of the population in the euro area was around five percent higher than the officially measured rate.
