SaxonQ GmbH, a Leipzig University start-up for mobile quantum computers, was yesterday named the winning team in the futureSAX “Start-up of the Year” competition. The prize was presented to the team by State Secretary Thomas Kralinski.
SaxonQ GmbH develops advanced hardware and software solutions for quantum computing - a technology that efficiently solves complex problems, which is not possible for conventional digital technology.
A second spin-off from Leipzig University was also very successful at the innovation conference: ESTER Biotech was among the three finalists for the transfer prize in the “Spin-off” category.
State Secretary Thomas Kralinski also stopped by the stand in the morning to find out more about the project.
In addition to ESTER, almost the entire SMILE start-up class was represented at the conference, as OneConnect, AI driven therapeutics, geblinkt and Hybeam all had a stand among the other young innovative companies from Saxony. The Leipzig SCadsAI project “PlayMyMath” also deserves a mention. E-Covery presented itself as an alumnus together with SMILE on the “Community Stage”.
Not to be forgotten are the teams from the “Gründungsküche” project - the food incubator of the SMILE start-up initiative at Leipzig University. The Ge:Bäck team won the special “Social Entrepreneurs” prize, which was awarded for the first time at the Saxon State Prize for Entrepreneurship. With their innovative business model, they are pioneers in transferring the concept of solidarity agriculture to the bakery trade. With the bread subscription and decentralized delivery of bread, they enable working hours in which the alarm clock does not ring for employees until well after 5 a.m. By delivering the breads, whose grain comes from regional, organic cultivation, to decentralized pick-up stations by cargo bike, the Ge:Bäck team not only makes an award-winning contribution to social sustainability, but also to ecological sustainability.
Our food start-ups co.hilo and Steinbiß were also represented at the conference.
It was a successful day for the Leipzig founders in Dresden!
