Learn more about the project
Through the "Global Talent Ignite" (GTI) program, Leipzig University aims to strengthen the start-up ecosystem in Leipzig and the surrounding region by integrating skilled professionals with academic degrees from abroad into local start-ups and young SMEs.
GTI combines qualification adjustments with practical projects involving real companies to enhance the employability of international academics and facilitate their integration into Saxony’s labor market.
Module 1: Prepares international graduates living abroad for roles in German start-ups through a „Certified Innovation Manager“ course, offered as an e-learning course or in-person in Leipzig. Participants can apply their knowledge in an Innovation Hackathon working on real case studies delivered by local start-ups. The certificate course serves as a prerequisite for admission to the summer school in Module 3, which includes deeper networking opportunities with start-ups through an internship in Germany.
Module 2: Uses a service-learning approach to connect international academics, especially those in international master's programs in Leipzig, with local start-ups through project work and challenges. Participants engage in the Online Marketing Challenge (OMC) and Export Manager Advanced Training (EMAT), developing solutions for start-ups.
Module 3: Focuses on the successful integration of international academics into the German labor market through internships and a summer school that prepares participants for the German work environment. The goal is to foster sustainable integration and long-term collaboration between international professionals and German companies.
