Financial literacy in terms of managing personal finances is not only important for an individual's financial situation, but also represents the prerequisite for an active participation in economic activities in a society. A holistic understanding of financial literacy is necessary in order to develop suitable measures for its promotion. For this purpose, the DFG research network "AFin" was founded, which deals with the conceptual framing, promotion and valid measurement of financial literacy.

The scientific network was initiated by Prof. Dr. Manuel Förster (applicant - TUM), Prof. Dr. Mandy Hommel (co-responsible - OTH Amberg-Weiden), Prof. Dr. Carmela Aprea (University of Mannheim), PD Dr. Roland Happ (University of Leipzig), Prof. Dr. Bärbel Fürstenau (TU Dresden) and Prof. Dr. Eveline Wuttke (Goethe University Frankfurt a. M.). Since October 2021, a total of 18 national and international scientists have been working together to achieve the set goals. The network is funded by the German Research Foundation for a period of 36 months (DFG GZ: FO 1039/2-1).

Further information can be found on the AFin network homepage. The other participants of the network, results from the network meetings and publications are also presented there.
