The chair of business information management adresses following topics:

  • Enterprise Application Integration,
  • Management of large software systems (SOA, Web services, cloud systems),
  • Use of Web technologies,
  • Application programming,
  • Service Science,
  • Concepts for enterprise IT architectures

The research of the chair is particularly devoted to the issues of business process management, to the use of wireless technologies to optimize business processes, especially in the logistics sector, as well as cloud computing.

To carry out the teaching and research activities a Living Lab is available to the chair from February 2013.

The Living Lab is an enviroment which is modeled on actual environmental conditions of the logistics service sector with a strong involvement of the different actors promoting innovation and creativity in teaching, research and development work.

The chair is characterized by practical research and close collaboration with regional, national and international research partners. Amongst others, it is member of the Netzwerk Logistik Leipzig/Halle e.V., the Bundesvereinigung Logistik e.V. (BVL), the Verband für Automatische Identifikation, Datenerfassung und Mobile Datenkommunikation (AIM) as well as the Eclipse Foundation.
