UFZ-LogoThe chair was established as a joint appointment from the University of Leipzig and the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ.

The Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ was established in 1991 and has approx. 1000 employees in Leipzig, Halle/S. and Magdeburg. These scientists study the complex interactions between humans and the environment in semi-natural and degraded landscapes. The scientists develop concepts and processes to help secure the natural resource base of human life for future generations.

The library at the UFZ can be used as a specialist library for Environmental Science (WebOPAC).
