Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Thomas Bruckner

The activities of the chair for energy management and sustainability focus on the development of energy models and the use of these models for the consultation of decision makers in energy economics and climate policy. The core topics contain: (1) technical and economic optimization of decentral energy systems (e.g., virtual power plants), (2) socio-economic optimization and agent-based modeling of local energy systems, (3) electricity market models in the national and European level and (4) design and valuation of instruments in energy and climate policies.

Current positions:

Professor Bruckner has published more than 200 scientific publications; 71 of them in peer-reviewed journals or international assessment reports. The number of invited talks exceeds 150. He is reviewer of prestigious international journals and science foundations, co-organizer of numerous scientific conferences, speaker of one of the core research profile areas at the Leipzig University (called Sustainable Systems and Biodiversity), chairman of the Executive Board of the German-Russian Institute of Energy Policy and Energy, and acting director of the Institute for Infrastructure and Resources Management of Leipzig University. According to Google Scholar, his h-Index is 30.
